it was used to makeluxurious imperial robes

as well as gold thread,

symbolizing wealth and power.

Patterns of the Beijing embroidery depict auspicious things and signs,

such as the Chinese dragon and phoenix

as well as other auspicious animals and blooming flowers.

Different colors of the embroidery have different symbolic meanings.

Yellow represents the emperors’ supreme power;

Red is festive and auspicious;

Whereas blue symbolizes elegance and dignity.
