在各种语言当中，都会出现字词简化或用不同词语描述的情形。而在英式英文中，也有许多这样的用法。

Learn British English Free 的讲师Chris提出了一些有趣的英式英文俚语，有些单字是字词缩写，而有些用词则不同于美式英文，但都非常值得学习！

1. Fit / hot (adj.) & Fancy (v.)

E.g. I think she’s fit / hot. I really fancy her. 我觉得她很迷人，我真的很喜欢她。

2. Chat up (v.) 调情

E.g. One night he went into a bar and met a girl he thought was really fit. They got talking and he decided he fancied her, so he tried chatting her up. 有天晚上他去了酒吧，遇到一个迷人的女孩。他们开始聊天，而他非常喜欢她，所以他开始和那女孩调情。

3. Dosh 钱 = money

E.g. “Can I pay by card?” “I’m afraid we only take dosh.” 「我可以用信用卡付款吗？」「我们恐怕只能收现金。」

4. Fiver 五英镑 / Tenner 十英镑5. Quid 英镑 = pound

E.g. If I have a fiver / tenner, I have five / ten quid in cash.

6. Telly = television 电视

E.g. Is there anything good on the telly tonight? 今晚电视有什么好看的节目吗？

7. Uni = university 大学

E.g. “Where did you go to uni?” “I went to uni in Southampton.” 「你上哪间大学？」「我在南安普敦上大学。」

8. Knackered / Cream-crackered 疲惫

E.g. I’m going to bed early, I’m absolutely knackered / cream-crackered. 我要早点上床睡觉，我真是太累了。

9. Gobsmacked 感到惊讶

E.g. When she told me she was pregnant, I was gobsmacked! 当她告诉我她怀孕了，我真是惊讶到说不出话！

10. Sketchy 担心、焦虑

E.g. When she thought she was in trouble she was acting well sketchy. 当她觉得自己陷入麻烦中的时候，她表现得非常焦虑。

11. Bits and bobs / pieces 各式各样的小东西

E.g. I need to pick up some bits and bobs / pieces from the shop. 我需要在那间商店里挑选各种东西。
