芝加哥体育作家Mark Gonzalez介绍了汤姆-里基茨，现年55岁的里基茨大学期间成为芝加哥小熊棒球队球迷，他在2009年以大约9亿美元的价格收购小熊队。但近年来受到疫情影响，小熊队价值有所下降，据报道该家族对于这支球队的兴趣有所减弱。值得一提的是，里基茨曾投入数亿美元用于小熊主场的翻新工程。
